My best friend since freshmen year of high school married her high school sweetheart! Emily + Tyler had a huge wedding planned with all of their family and friends, but quickly had to come up with a plan b once the pandemic happened. When they realized they wouldn't be able to have their originally planned big day, they decided to still exchange vows on their originally set date. Their immediate family (and dogs!!) watched and celebrated with them as they finally become one after 10+ years of dating.
Later in the year, they were able to relive that day again with more of their friends, family, and wedding party! They had a nautical themed wedding on the coast of Maine at Kelley's Place On The Cove. Their big day was filled so many special details. I am so honored that I was able to be a bridesmaid in their wedding party while an associate photographer took my place as the photographer for the day. (I of course, had to sneak to shoot some bride & groom portraits though!)
Each bridesmaid gathered a few photos and wrote a note to the bride for her to read in a scrapbook while getting ready.
Emily's mom, bridesmaids, and flower girls helped her get dressed and accessorized. I love shots of all of the little details being put on and worn.
Tyler and his groomsmen got ready at his parent's house where he grew up!
Tyler ushered his parents down the aisle and patiently waited for his beautiful bride. Emily's four brothers walked her down the aisle and gave her away with their mom. They exchanged their vows, their nieces sang a song, and they tied a fisherman's knot.
Emily is the biggest dog lover I've ever met. Since their elopement in June, they adopted another sweet pug!
Emily + Tyler had the biggest wedding party everrrr and I am so honored that I was able to be a part of it! They included all of their siblings and their spouses, their nieces and nephews, and some of their closest friends.
Pretty much all of their reception decor was handmade! Emily and Tyler poured some much effort and thought into all of their DIY decor, and so much of it had special meaning behind it too.
If you haven't noticed by now, family plays a huge role in this couple's life. Emily's twin brother sang and played guitar during their first dance as husband and wife. In place of the traditional father-daughter dance, Emily took turns dancing with her mom and each of her four siblings while a slideshow of their late father played in the background. So so special, there weren't many dry eyes. Afterwards, Tyler shared an emotional first dance with his mom as well!
A few people shared some heartfelt words and funny memories about the couple.
Just as the sun was setting, we snuck away for a few more "just married" portraits! I absolutely love this part of the day because all of the big events are done, the couple has had a couple cocktails by now, and they are so much more relaxed! It's a great opportunity for them to just have a moment alone and take it all in!
The remainder of the night was filled with lots of dancing, games, and so much fun!!
