Every wedding is special, each in it's own way, but this one was extra special to me. I got to fly completely across the country to California and watch my childhood best friend marry her middle school sweetheart!
June 2nd, 2018 we headed into San Francisco to catch the sunrise at Baker Beach. Ali and Cruz shared their first look together with the Golden Gate Bridge peaking through in the background.
The timing worked out perfectly because the warm golden light that was pouring onto the beach was magical.
That golden glow, the sparkly dress, and those giggly smiles...absolute perfection! These two were naturals, and made it so easy for me to capture the love that they share for each other.
When Ali was shopping for her wedding dress a few months ago, she knew that she wanted something with sparkles and a train... You should have seen how excited she was one she tried this one on at Kleinfeld. She instantly knew that it was the one. She couldn't have picked a more perfect dress, so stunning!
Photographing my best friend, on her wedding day, at the Golden Gate Bridge was nothing that I had ever even dreamt of, but it felt like a dream come true.
As we were finishing up and heading back to the car, we were admiring the beautiful sun rays shining through these trees. I wouldn't normally send a bride hiking up a steep bank and through twisted tree roots in her wedding dress, but Ali knows how to recognize great light, and she wanted to go for it. There may have been a trail sparkles following behind her, but it was so worth it!
Ali and Cruz had a very small, intimate ceremony with just a few of their immediate family members in the middle of a beautiful rose garden. The Gardens at Heather Farms looks as if it would be in a fairytale.
Being in California for a week with these two was the perfect opportunity for me to get to know Cruz a little better. It's safe to say he passed the best friend test. Cruz was so patient and caring, not just towards Ali, but her whole family. He is such a gentleman and these two are lucky to have each other!
After many years of dating throughout high school, while Ali was at college, and while Cruz was away in the Air Force, these two are finally able to be together forever!
Seriously though, so much perfection. The whole day was absolutely amazing! I wish these two nothing but the best and a lifetime of happiness together.
Ali and I have been friends longer than I can even remember. We grew up a few houses away from each other, so as you can imagine, we were together quite a bit. We spent countless days playing with dolls, shopping, and having sleepovers. Being able to photograph her and Cruz's special day was such an honor and so surreal. I cannot wait to stand up with you at your big wedding next year in Maine!
