Erin is hands down the most inspiring person that I have ever met. Her strength, beauty, and positivity never cease to amaze me. It's been absolutely incredible following her journey over the past couple of years. I am so blown away by her progress, she's a complete rockstar!
Erin's Story: "On April 4, 2017 I was accidentally run over by a pickup truck while working at a gas station. It completely rocked my world, but oddly enough, it was in one of the best ways possible. I broke quite a few bones, but the most impactful thing was, I was paralyzed from the bellybutton down on my T9 vertebrae. I was able to come to Colorado for the best spinal cord injury rehabilitation center in the nation and I’ve been able to experience so many wonderful things since the injury. One of the biggest things that I was blessed with was the ability to regain about 95% function in my lower half, and though still very weak, I’m learning to walk again and re-experience life again. In the past two years I’ve had to push myself harder than I ever have and I’ve had to grow stronger mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally more than I ever have before. I’ve always kept a very positive outlook on life and this injury has only strengthened that because I know things could’ve been so much worse. I’m truly blessed with the people I’ve been surrounded with, and with the cool amazing opportunities I’ve been able to enjoy since. I’m now strong and motivated! Back full time at university to finish my degree, volunteering at Craig Hospital, a peer mentor in the Dana and Christopher Reeves Foundation, a public speaker for medics and PT students, and a very active dog momma. I now know to the core of my being things can only get better from here."
